In the House of Lords, Viscount peel called the attention of the Government to a letter by the Secretary of State for India regarding the maintenance of the communal system in India. Lord Olivier, in reply, stated that the letter was perfectly discreet, and was merely an expression of philosophical opinion.
The Government’s housing scheme was unfolded in the House of Commons by the Minister of Health.
Sir Kingsley Wood’s Government Tenants (Prevention of Eviction) Bill was introduced in the House of Commons and read a first time.
The King received many messages of congratulation on the 59th anniversary of his birthday. A large crowd witnessed the Trooping of the Colour on the Horse Guards Parade.
The Bratiano Government in Romania was reported to have been overthrown by General Averescu, at the Head of the People’s Party. The members of the Bratiano Ministry were stated to have fled from Bucharest.
