NEWS STORY : Sir David Butler Dies at the Age of 98

Sir David Butler, the psephologist, has died at the age of 98. Between 1950 and 1979 he was the joint presenter on on the BBC’s General Election night coverage and he also wrote authoritative books about the elections between 1945 and 2019. One of the innovations that he was responsible for was the introduction of the swingometer to help explain election results.
