BIOGRAPHY :

Mr. J. C. George, aged 48, is the son of a miner and entered the pits at the age of 14, rising to become a general manager in 1938. He severed his connexion with coal mining after nationalization and is chairman of a slate firm. In 1948 he was appointed chairman of the Mineral Resources Panel of the Scottish Council for Development and Industries.
