Lt.-Col. J. E. S. Walford, a Regular officer for 29 years until 1947, serving first with The Worcestershire Regiment and then with the Royal Corps of Signals, was educated at Malvern and Sandhurst. He is a well-known cricketer, having played for Worcestershire, the Army, the M.C.C., and All Egypt. His wife was Conservative candidate at Darlington He was born in 1899.
