BIOGRAPHY :

Mrs. B. Matthews was presented at the Coronation Court in 1936, and then gave up society life and joined the Communist Party. Thirty-five years of age, she studied at the London School of Economics. After her marriage to Mr. G. Matthews, a former Labour candidate in Mid-Bedfordshire, she became an active Communist locally, and is now a member of the national executive of the Party.
