BIOGRAPHY :

Mr. R. Hewitt, one time assistant to Mr. J. R. Clynes, M.P., and organizer of the National Union of General and Municipal Workers, was labour manager and later industrial relations officer at a big chemical works. In 1948 he represented the British Chemical industry at the first meeting of the Chemical Industries Committee in Paris. A lecturer and writer, he was a member of the Government committee on industrial diseases last year.
