BIOGRAPHY :
Mr. A. Burrell, who was born in Leeds in 1884, worked on the L.N.E.R. as a fitter and later as a colliery engineer in Durham. From 1908 he was an insurance agent and organized the Insurance Agents’ U nion. He was president of the National Federation of Insurance Workers for two years. In 1938 he was a trade union delegate to Russia as a guest of the U.S.S.R. Government. He served with the Navy in the 1914-18 war.
