Mr. S. W. Alexander, a financial journalist, formed the City of London Free Trade Club and contested the City of London as an independent Free Trade candidate in 1945. He was private secretary to Lord Beaverbrook in 1910, and worked with him at the Ministry of Information in the 1914-18 war.
