Mr. M. Shinwell, a brother of Mr. E. Shinwell, Secretary of State for War, unsuccessfully contested North Ayr and Bute in 1935. A journalist, he has had a long association with trade union organizations in Scotland and is national organizer for the Society of Civil Servants.
