BIOGRAPHY :
Mr. R. W. Williams was returned at a by-election in 1948. He is 42, the son of a South Wales miner, and qualified as a solicitor. Partner in a law firm until 1936, he became solicitor to the Durham Mineworkers’ Union and is now solicitor to the National Union of Mineworkers. He was a member of the commission which inquired into the Nigerian disorders in 1949.
