BIOGRAPHY :

Mr. E. H. C. Leather was born in 1919 in Toronto, where his parents had gone from Manchester. Graduating at the Royal Military College of Canada, he was commissioned in the Canadian Army in 1939. One of the original officers of the 1st (Canadian) Parachute Battalion, he was injured in a parachute failure and spent nine months in a plaster cast. Later he served in Belgium, Holland, and Germany. In 1945 he contested Bristol South. He is in business with a firm of insurance and banking brokers in the City, and lives in London.
