BIOGRAPHY :

Mr. J. B. Hynd, former Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, is 48, and was a railway clerk before being returned unopposed in 1944. He speaks several languages, and during the war regularly broadcast to Germany, France, and Italy. From 1945 to 1947 he had Ministerial responsibility for the British side of the Control Commission in Germany and Austria, and from April to October, 1947, he was Minister of Pensions.
