BIOGRAPHY :

Mr. A. C. M. Spearman, a London stockbroker, has held the seat since 1941. He was born in 1901, and educated at Repton and Hertford College, Oxford, where (as a descendant of Sir Francis Baring) he held the Baring Founder’s Kin Scholarship. He has travelled widely, and has visited the United States both on a Parliamentary mission and independently to study economic questions.
