BIOGRAPHY :

Mr. R. J. Taylor was first elected for Morpeth in 1935. He is 68 years of age, and is a miner. He has been a member of Blyth Borough Council and Northumberland County Council. In the war-time National Government he acted as Labour Whip, and in 1945 he was appointed a Lord Commissioner of the Treasury and Deputy Chief Whip.
