BIOGRAPHY :

Mr. A. M. F. Palmer, aged 37, won Wimbledon from the Conservatives at the 1945 election. Educated at Ashford County School and at technical colleges, he studied electrical engineering from 1931 to 1935, and in 1936 joined the head office staff of the London Power Company. During his term in Parliament he concentrated on fuel and power questions, and was vice-chairman of the Parliamentary Labour Party fuel and power committee. He was formerly a member of the Brentford and Chiswick Borough Council.
