BIOGRAPHY :

Mr. W. G. Matthews is a Bedfordshire man, aged 37, and is the first Liberal to fight Lutqn for 20 years. He serves on the county council, and is the only Liberal on any local authority in Bedfordshire. He is a shopkeeper in the village of Sharnbrook. He has been secretary of Bedford Liberal Association ?nd has acted as agent in Bedford and Mid-Beds. From 1941 to 1945 he served in the medical service of the R.A.F.
