BIOGRAPHY :

Mr. J. Gibbins first contested the West Toxteth division in 1922 and in the course of 13 years fought eight elections. He was M.P. for that division from 1924 until 1931, when he was defeated, but recaptured the seat in 1935. He was born in 1888, served his apprenticeship as a boiler maker, and served in the Navy during the 1914-18 war.
