Mr. C. A. Newport, aged 51, is a Leicester accountant and a Baptist local preacher. He is president of the Leicester Liberal Party and vice-president of the East Midlands Liberal Federation. He was a Liberal representative on the Leicester City Council from 1931 to 1933.
