BIOGRAPHY :

Mr. C. H. Lucas, born in Halifax in 1896, went to sea at the age of 20 and gained his second mate’s certificate. Returning to the town some years later, he took over a manufacturing concern and has also been interested in theatrical ventures. In the Royal Navy in the last war he saw service in northern waters. He was mayor of the borough in 1946-47.
