BIOGRAPHY :

Mr. J. Reeves, aged 53, had fought two unsuccessful contests before becoming M.P. for the division in 1945. He was founder and chairman of the Camberwell Labour Party and became vice-chairman of the Society for Improving Relations between Great Britain and the U.S.S.R. He is a member of the national executive of the Labour Party, and of the committee of inquiry into the B.B.C.
