BIOGRAPHY :

Mr. J. Rankin, a teacher, is 60 and joined the Labour Party in 1915. He fought the Pollok seat three times and was elected for Tradeston in 1945. Educated at Glasgow University, he has been lecturer and propagandist for the Scottish Labour College. He is a keen cooperator, and was once chairman of Glasgow I.L.P.
