Mr. J. Hall, a colliery engine driver, is chairman of the northern district of the National Union of General and Municipal Workers. For 15 years he was a member of the Durham County Council, and he is chairman of the Houghton-le-Spring Labour Party. Aged 53, he served with the 1 st Life Guards during the 1914-18 war.
