BIOGRAPHY :

Miss H. J. Harvey read economics at Newnham College, and in 1931 was appointed to the staff of the Royal Institute of International Affairs, becoming secretary of the Study Groups Department in 1935. From 1939 she was a temporary Civil servant in the Foreign Office. After the war she served with the United Nations and then joined the staff of the Royal Institute of International Affairs as British Commonwealth research secretary. She resigned this position last year to enter politics.
