BIOGRAPHY :

Sir William Darling, a former lord-provost and city treasurer of Edinburgh, is proprietor of a drapery store and two bookshops in the city and director of the Royal Bank of Scotland and the Scottish Union and National Insurance Company. Born in 1885, he went to James Gilles-pie’s School, Daniel Stewart’s School, and Heriot-Watt College. He is the author of several publications, including ” The Private Papers of a Bankrupt Bookseller.”
