BIOGRAPHY :

Mr. E. Thomas was born in 1914 in Manor Park, E., where he lives. A Thames lighterman, he was formerly general secretary of the Lightermen’s and Bargemen’s Union. He has also been a director of the National Dock Labour Board for the London area, and took part in the Cameron inquiry which led to the Dock Workers (Control of Employment) Order. He took a prominent part in last year’s dock strike.
