BIOGRAPHY :

Lt.-Col. H. C. R. Laslett, who retired from the Indian Army in 1947 after 20 years’ military service, is 43. A native of Riga, Latvia, he spent the first eight years of his life in Russia, where his father was in the timber trade. After leaving Fettes he worked with a London banking company, then enlisted in the Army and later went through Sandhurst, being commissioned in the Indian Army in 1931. During the last war he served with the 51st Highland Division, and was a prisoner of war for five years. He is the northern counties representative on the Conservative central board of finance.
