BIOGRAPHY :
Maj. J. Burnie, born in 1882, was formerly M.P. for Bootle, being the first Liberal to represent that borough in the House of Commons. At one time he was the only Liberal on the Bootle town council. He served in the 1914-18 war and gained the M.C., and has been mayor of Bootle.
