BIOGRAPHY :

Mr. S. S. Awbery was born in 1888 and?trained as a copper worker. Later he held union appointments and became an organizer of the Transport and General Workers’ Union. A member of the Labour Party since 1910, he has been active in local government in Barry and was mayor in 1942. He was elected in 1945 and Went to Malaya with a Parliamentary delegation in 1948. He advocates an alliance of the Labour Party, trade unions and Cooperative movement.
