BIOGRAPHY :

Col. L. Ropner was first elected to Parliament for Sedgefield, Durham, in 1923, and won Barkston Ash in 1931 and has held it ever since. Born in 1896 and educated at Harrow and Clare College, Cambridge, he won the M.C. in the first world war and is senior partner in a north-east coast shipping firm. He has served on the Forestry Commission and been chairman of the Conservative and Union Film Association.
